Firm Promotes New Partner and Adds Associate
CHICAGO, IL – Feb 2, 2026 – Carmen D. Caruso Law Firm is increasing its litigation
strength with the promotion of Bill Whitner to partner, and a new associate, Matthew
Warren.
“We pursue high-stakes litigation for franchisees, dealers and other clients who
have everything on the line,” said Carmen D. Caruso. “Since Bill joined the firm in 2018,
he has gained significant trial experience handling disputes across multiple jurisdictions
and has become integral to our team, and he brings immense value to our clients. Most
importantly, Bill loves trying cases,” adds Caruso.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Bill earned a double major in Political
Science and United States History before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent
College of Law. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2019 and is licensed to practice
before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and its trial Bar (2025)
highlighting his courtroom capabilities.
Bill is a member of the Federal Trial Bar in the Northern District of Illinois, the
Illinois State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Bar
Association’s Forum on Franchising and Section of Labor and Employment staying
actively engaged in the legal community and continuing to build on his experience in
litigation.
Warren received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his
undergraduate degree in Classics, magna cum laude, in June 2022 from Lawrence
University in Appleton, WI. Warren studied abroad in Athens, Greece as part of his
undergraduate work. He worked in the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic as part of its
Environmental and Energy Law Clinic and was law clerk at a Chicago commercial
litigation boutique firm. He also served as associate editor of the Journal of
Environmental and Energy Law while at Chicago-Kent College of Law and competed in
International Moot Court Honor Society activities. He is a member of the Chicago Bar
Association and the Chicago Council on Lawyers.
