Matthew joined Carmen D. Caruso Law Firm in 2026 after serving for two years as a law clerk at a Chicago commercial litigation boutique. He has had extensive experience in civil litigation through drafting pleadings, motion practice, and engaging in written and oral discovery. At the same time, Matthew has developed a strong understanding of franchise and dealership law through research and experience with the team. He is also an adjunct professor of legal writing at Chicago-Kent college of Law.
Matthew received his B.A. in Classics, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University before attending law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law. There he received his Juris Doctor in 2025 with a certificate in International and Comparative Law. While a law student, Matthew worked as a Clinical Assistant at the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic, as an Associate Editor for Chicago-Kent’s Journal of Environmental and Energy Law, and was invited to compete as an Oralist in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He also received a CALI Award for his work in studying Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity.
Matthew is admitted to practice in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Chicago Council of Lawyers.
