On March 22, 2018, Balestriere Fariello of New York and Carmen D. Caruso Law Firm in Chicago filed a defamation lawsuit against William (“Bill”) James O’Reilly, the former host of The O’Reilly Factor on the Fox News Network, LLC, on behalf of Plaintiff Laurie Dhue, a professional journalist and former Fox News anchor, and now an advocate for alcohol and substance abuse recovery.

Dhue alleges O’Reilly made numerous public statements with the intention of tarnishing Dhue’s reputation, including statements that the claim he sexually harassed Dhue and other women was a “hit-job” motivated by politics and finance, that he did nothing wrong, and that claims of sexual harassment asserted by Dhue and other women were fabricated in an effort to obtain a settlement. Dhue charges that O’Reilly is liable for defamation, including detrimentally affecting her reputation and her current career as a journalist and national recovery advocate.

The case is docketed as no. 1:18-cv-02547 in the federal court in Manhattan.
