Carmen’s experience in contract disputes includes:
- Recovery for a manufacturing company alleging defective installation of a new, custom built assembly line in a pita bread manufacturing facility.
- Recovery for a software developer claiming breach of contract by a marketing company it joint ventured with.
- Defense of a manufacturer accused of failing to design, build and deliver a customized video vending machine.
- State court bench trial for breach of contract against a plumbing contractor who performed defective work.
- Convinced state court judge that as a matter of “Contract Law 101,” an alleged agreement to sell a valuable Monet painting did not rise to the level of an enforceable contract.
- Terminations of sub-contractors on O’Hare Airport redevelopment project and on several major Chicago buildings: One Magnificent Mile, the Northwestern University Law School, and the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. For the Exchange building, Carmen overcame subcontractor’s claim under a federal RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) statute that these terminations were part of an alleged pattern of racketeering activity by our client.
